“Shortly after my grandfather Ed Engler passed away in 1981, our landlord on 129 E. Sherman more than tripled our rent. Not wanting to pay that much of a premium for a building that needed a lot of work, we inquired about the Earl Kirk Chrysler-Plymouth building on 2nd and Washington, which was not listed for sale but had been vacant. We bought the building in 1982, worked on remodeling over the summer and opened our doors in January 1983, which has been our home ever since.”
