Last week we attended the Annual Meeting for Carrier Factory Authorized Dealers in Los Angeles. Robies has been a proud Carrier dealer for over 40 years.

We are thrilled to announce that for the tenth consecutive year, we have won the prestigious Carrier President’s Award. This award is incredibly difficult to attain and recognizes quality workmanship, excellent customer experience, overall sales and loyalty to the brand.

We are so grateful for our incredible team who made it happen - our technicians, apprentices, electricians, support staff, sales team and our managers / supervisors.

We very much enjoyed the event - learning about new products & technology, training, networking and celebrating our communal success. We are honored to receive this award and proud to be a Carrier Factory Authorized Dealer.

Recent Mitsubishi Heat Pump installation in Barnstable Village. This job was a source of particular pride for Robies as the work was performed exclusively by two very recent graduates of Cape Cod Tech in Harwich. Both technicians - Kyle & Matt - graduated within the past two years. Not only did the job come out phenomenal, meeting our strict standards - but the customer was also so pleased we received a five star review:

“Very professional! Courteous and competent workers who did a beautiful job installing 6 mini splits. Looking forward to summer.”

What a week! Sorry for the long, rambling post...

It’s been a long time since we can remember a storm like that.

We want to again express our gratitude to all of the fire, police, EMT, nurses. We heard from many, and they were slammed. And the plow drivers, town employees and of course the army of linemen, internet / phone crews, tree companies, electricians, National Grid gas fitters. How about the restaurants that kept a steady flow of FOOD for all of these workers? And the hospitality workers - hotels were FULL!

We’ve heard non stop stories of neighbors checking on each other, helping out, shoveling, providing hot meals, hot showers. Helping with childcare, looking after pets. Some Cape Codders were without power for five days! We constantly heard our employees, friends, family, neighbors - anyone we encountered “Do you have power? Do you need anything? How can I help?”

On Tuesday morning, despite having no power, no working phones, no internet, no backup internet and horrible cell service - despite half of our service trucks being stuck behind fallen trees, unplowed streets, somehow we got going.  We setup a remote call center to receive incoming calls.  Our techs dug out, cut trees and got on the road.  By the end of Tuesday we had momentum and had completed 25 emergency calls.  By the end of the week we had completed close to 200 emergency calls.

We are so lucky, so grateful, so thankful for our team.  They rolled with every punch, every challenge, got through every obstacle.  Our biggest takeaway from this week is that our team cares.  They care about each other, they care about our company, they care about our customers, they care about our community.

We are essentially caught up.  If you or anyone you know needs help with Generac automatic generator service OR with a no heat situation - please call us, whether you are a customer or not.  We have the capacity to help.

In our super-connected lives, we are bombarded by negativity everywhere we turn.  This event has reminded us that our community is WONDERFUL.   The Cape is a special place, with great people!  We are PROUD to serve this community, as we have for the past 67 years!

❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️

The Cape has endured a historic, devastating blizzard. By the end of yesterday, 88% of Cape Cod was without power. Unprecedented.

Today, Tuesday Feb 24th, we were able to get back to business. We deployed service trucks for emergency visits. Thankfully, we completed 25 emergency service calls. We will complete far more tomorrow.

We are proud of our team for stepping up to serve our community. They cut up trees blocking their driveways, helped pull each other out when stuck and found alternate routes when roads were blocked.

For the remainder of the week, we will prioritize those with the highest need - elderly, disabled, medical. Please bear with us.

Thank you to our first responders, fire, police, Eversource crews, plow drivers, tree and limb workers, National Grid. They are facing a monumental challenge. Eversource has activated crews from around New England.

We are proud to serve this wonderful community. Stay safe, stay warm.

🚨 🚨 HERE WE GO AGAIN 🚨 🚨
_______________________________

ROBIES CLOSED MONDAY FEB 23

Will reopen 7:30 AM on Tuesday Feb 24.

Scroll below for full storm notes…

!!! ❄️ ❄️ ❄️ ❄️ WARNING - 1 TO 2 FEET - 70 MPH WINDS. ❄️ ❄️ ❄️ !!!

This storm is very different than the January storm:
Predicting more snow : 12 to 24” possible
MUCH heavier snow
Winds will be DOUBLE ::
January storm - 35 MPH
This storm - 70 MPH expected

National Weather Service predicts over 50% of Cape Cod will see EXTREME IMPACTS - EXTREMELY DANGEROUS CONDITIONS WITH SUBSTANTIAL DISTRUPTIONS.

Eversource has been very clear - widespread outages expected. Some areas could take 3 to 5 days for full restoration. They rarely come out and say this, which indicates the potential severity of this blizzard.

Be prepared. Stay safe. Stay warm.

Emergency Service

While Robies offers emergency service, this is limited to our regular customers and we do NOT dispatch on call technicians when the roads are not safe for travel. It is very likely that the first opportunity we will have for safe travel is Tuesday morning.
Generac Generators

Ensure both the intake and exhaust are clear of snow.

Fine, powdery snow can clog the filter. Open the lid. Flip the switch inside to off. Open the filter enclosure. Clear the enclosure and filter of snow. Re-insert filter. Turn switch to on.

After 24 hours of continuous run time, switch the generator off and check the oil.
Winter Storms

Check batteries on CO detectors! It could save your life.

For furnaces, boilers, tankless water heaters – ensure intake and exhaust are clear of snow.
Power Outages

To prepare for a possible outage, heat the house up more than normal. Set thermostats to 72. If and when power outage occurs, this buys you more time.

Do not plug space heaters into extension cords or power strips – only plug into the wall.

Do not leave running space heaters unattended.

Burst pipe prevention – open all faucets slightly so there is a steady drip.

Stay safe! Stay warm!
