Today we pause to honor the men and women who gave their lives in service to our country.

On this Memorial Day, we remember their courage, their sacrifice, and the families who carry their memory forward. Their legacy is one of service, dedication, and love of country.

Gone but never forgotten. We remember and we are grateful.

Award of Excellence for Historic Courthouse Renovation

W. M. Schlosser Company is proud to announce we have received an Award of Excellence from the Fairfax County Department of Public Works and Environmental Services for Building Design and Construction, recognizing our work on the Historic Courthouse Wings Renovation project, awarded May 19, 2026.

This project was a true honor, restoring and reimagining three historic courthouse wings at 4000 Chain Bridge Road in Fairfax, Virginia. With a project value of $8,252,196.70, the work brought together complex civil, architectural, MEP (mechanical, electrical, and plumbing), and specialty construction, all delivered in a sensitive and historic environment.

We are incredibly proud of our team, Project Executive Ashu, Project Manager Ray, Superintendent Wilder, Quality Control Manager Saidullah, MEP Manager Robert, and Field Office Manager Michele, whose leadership, coordination, and commitment to excellence made this achievement possible.

We are grateful to Fairfax County for their trust and partnership, and we are honored to have contributed to preserving and strengthening such an important community landmark.

Say hello to our summer intern Karla who spent her first day on site today!

We’re so happy to welcome Karla Rosette to the W.M. Schlosser team as our Summer Intern supporting the WMATA Fan Shaft Rehab project.

Karla is currently studying architecture at Andrews University, where she also shines as part of the acrobatic and cheer team. She brings a wonderful mix of creativity, curiosity, and enthusiasm for learning how things are built and how teams bring projects to life.

She has a natural creative spirit, whether she’s sketching, crafting, building Lego and model projects, or finding inspiration in everyday details. Outside of school and work, she’s often cheering on Mexico, Cruz Azul, or Barcelona, or spending time with her very adorable puppy.

We’re excited to have Karla with us this summer and look forward to the energy, ideas, and fresh perspective she’s already bringing to the team.

Construction Safety Week is here, and this year’s theme says it best, All In Together.

At WM Schlosser, we’re focused on three actions that protect our people and strengthen every jobsite:

RecognizeHigh energy hazards, high-risk tasks, and the STCKY, the stuff that can kill you, demand our full attention. Early identification isn’t optional, it’s how we prevent serious injuries before they happen.

RespondSeeing a hazard is only the first step. Planning ahead and putting the right controls in place is what turns awareness into real protection on the job.

RespectEvery task, every phase, every change matters. We plan, we execute, and when something shifts, we stop, reassess, and adapt. That’s how we honor the work and the people doing it.

Safety isn’t a checklist, it’s a commitment we make together, every single day.

Our skilled tradespeople are at the heart of what we do.

We're committed to building a safer, more informed workforce—because frontline construction workers often miss out on crucial training. That’s why we launched Blueprints for Success, an initiative focused on safety, quality, and team expertise.

Recently, field staff joined a main office refresher packed with practical updates on safety and quality. The event featured energizing lunch, fun prizes, and useful swag for all participants. Leadership emphasized that targeted training—whether in-person, online, or onsite—is key to improving safety, quality, and performance.

Everyone is encouraged to participate, ask questions, apply learning in the field, and report hazards or gaps. Thanks to everyone who made this event possible! We’re dedicated to supporting each other, communicating openly, and ensuring everyone gets home safe.

Safety first. Quality always. Respect Each Other. No shortcuts.

Great job for someone who is currently or has previously worked for Amtrak/CSX/MARC. Great working environment with a solid team of professionals. Please feel free to share!

Powering Critical Infrastructure in Potomac, MD

W.M. Schlosser is proud to lead the construction of a new Unit Substation project for the Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission in March 2026, designed to support critical plant operations, including sedimentation basins, filtration, chemical systems, controls, communications, HVAC, and more.

This project goes far beyond installation. It begins with extensive site work, excavation, new ductbanks, manholes, and relocation of existing infrastructure, laying the groundwork for a modernized, high-performance system. At the core, a new outdoor substation (USS-1) will feature advanced main-tie-main distribution, complete with new transformers, switchgear, and primary load switches.
To ensure uninterrupted operations, our team is implementing temporary independent power during the transition, maintaining continuity while seamlessly upgrading essential systems.

Once complete, the new USS-1 will take over operations, followed by the safe decommissioning and removal of the existing unit.

We are also proud to recognize Singleton Electric as a key subcontractor supporting the electrical scope of this project.

Smart planning, precise ex*****on, and zero compromise on reliability. That’s how W.M. Schlosser delivers infrastructure that keeps communities running.

Punxsutawney Phil saw his shadow, which means six more weeks of winter.

On our job sites, winter brings ice, snow, and cold that can create hazards, so safety is always our top priority. Through careful planning, clear communication, and teamwork, we keep projects moving while protecting every person on site. Wishing everyone a safe and happy Groundhog Day!
