Powering Critical Infrastructure in Potomac, MD
W.M. Schlosser is proud to lead the construction of a new Unit Substation project for the Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission in March 2026, designed to support critical plant operations, including sedimentation basins, filtration, chemical systems, controls, communications, HVAC, and more.
This project goes far beyond installation. It begins with extensive site work, excavation, new ductbanks, manholes, and relocation of existing infrastructure, laying the groundwork for a modernized, high-performance system. At the core, a new outdoor substation (USS-1) will feature advanced main-tie-main distribution, complete with new transformers, switchgear, and primary load switches.
To ensure uninterrupted operations, our team is implementing temporary independent power during the transition, maintaining continuity while seamlessly upgrading essential systems.
Once complete, the new USS-1 will take over operations, followed by the safe decommissioning and removal of the existing unit.
We are also proud to recognize Singleton Electric as a key subcontractor supporting the electrical scope of this project.
Smart planning, precise ex*****on, and zero compromise on reliability. That’s how W.M. Schlosser delivers infrastructure that keeps communities running.
