Built to Last! The women of Dustin Construction had another great experience at the Women in Construction Leadership and Networking Conference! This year marked 20 years of WIC, bringing together women from across the industry to connect, learn, and celebrate the impact women continue to make in construction. This year was extra special because our very own Missy Hawkins, moderated a wonderful session empowering both women and the future of the industry. Dustin left feeling inspired, empowered, and excited to keep building what’s next!

Dustin Construction was proud to celebrate the ribbon cutting of Deer Park Elementary School alongside Baltimore County Public Schools. More than just a new elementary school, Deer Park represents an investment in students, families, and the future of the community. As the first Net Zero Energy Ready school for Baltimore County Public Schools, this state-of-the-art facility sets a new standard for sustainable learning environments. We are grateful for the opportunity to partner with BCPS and Grimm + Parker Architects to deliver this beautiful two-story school and create a lasting impact for generations to come.

This past Friday, Dustin Construction had the honor of celebrating someone who has made an incredible impact on our company and the communities we serve, Vance Hood. After an outstanding 38-year career as a Dustin superintendent, Vance is officially retiring and beginning his next chapter!

Throughout his career, Vance built lasting relationships with subcontractors, owners’ representatives, architects, school communities, and countless others. More importantly, he embodied what it truly means to Build the Dustin Way through the dedication, perseverance, craftsmanship, and pride he brought to every project.

Vance did more than build exceptional projects. His commitment to doing the right thing, caring deeply about his work, treating others well, and leading with integrity made him a truly wonderful person, great superintendent and an example of what it means to be a Dustin employee.

Dustin wishes Vance the very best in retirement!

Intern of the Day Spotlight: Chase Witmer!

This summer marks Chase Witmer's second year interning with Dustin Construction! Returning for another summer has allowed Chase to build on the experience he gained last year while taking on a greater role supporting two major K-12 projects: Baltimore Polytechnic Institute/Western High School and Frederick Douglass High School.

With one project just getting underway and the other nearing completion, Chase has had the unique opportunity to experience both the beginning and end of the construction process. From attending preconstruction meetings and learning how projects are planned and coordinated to assisting with punch list activities, final inspections, quality control, project documentation, and turnover, he's gaining firsthand insight into what it takes to successfully deliver a project from start to finish.

Throughout the summer, Chase has worked alongside our project managers, superintendents, trade partners, and design professionals, developing a deeper understanding of how communication, scheduling, safety, and teamwork drive every phase of construction.

At Dustin Construction, we're proud to invest in future construction professionals by providing meaningful, hands-on learning opportunities. Chase's decision to return for a second summer reflects both his passion for the industry and his commitment to continued growth. We're excited to watch him build on his experience and continue developing the skills that will support a successful career in construction.

Be sure to hear what Chase has to say about his internship experience at Dustin and stay tuned as we continue highlighting the outstanding interns helping us build stronger schools and stronger communities!

Intern of the Day Spotlight: Michael Tippett!

This summer, Michael Tippett has been gaining valuable hands-on experience as part of the Dustin Construction team while working on the Carroll County Office of the State's Attorney Office Building project. This local government project has given Michael the opportunity to see firsthand how collaboration, planning, and communication come together to successfully deliver a complex public facility.

By working alongside our Dustin team, trade partners and local government representatives, Michael has been exposed to the day-to-day coordination that keeps a project moving forward. From observing field operations and participating in project meetings to learning about scheduling, quality control, and safety, he's developing a strong understanding of what it takes to build successful projects from the ground up.

At Dustin Construction, we believe the best learning happens through real-world experience. We're proud to have Michael as part of our team this summer and are excited to watch him continue building the skills and confidence that will support a successful career in the construction industry.

Be sure to hear what Michael has to say about his internship experience at Dustin Construction and stay tuned as we continue highlighting the outstanding interns helping us build stronger communities.

Working diligently with her project team, she's been able to see firsthand how collaboration, planning, and communication come together to keep multiple projects moving forward successfully.

At Dustin Construction, we're committed to providing interns with meaningful, real-world experiences that prepare them for successful careers in the construction industry. Through mentorship and hands-on learning, interns like Morgan are building the foundation to become tomorrow's project engineers, superintendents, project managers, and industry leaders.

Check out what Morgan has to say about her summer with Dustin Construction. Stay tuned as we continue highlighting the incredible interns who are helping Dustin build the future, one project at a time!
