This past Friday, Dustin Construction had the honor of celebrating someone who has made an incredible impact on our company and the communities we serve, Vance Hood. After an outstanding 38-year career as a Dustin superintendent, Vance is officially retiring and beginning his next chapter!

Throughout his career, Vance built lasting relationships with subcontractors, owners’ representatives, architects, school communities, and countless others. More importantly, he embodied what it truly means to Build the Dustin Way through the dedication, perseverance, craftsmanship, and pride he brought to every project.

Vance did more than build exceptional projects. His commitment to doing the right thing, caring deeply about his work, treating others well, and leading with integrity made him a truly wonderful person, great superintendent and an example of what it means to be a Dustin employee.

Dustin wishes Vance the very best in retirement!

Yesterday morning, Dustin Construction joined Frederick Community College, Frederick County, and Maryland government officials to celebrate the ribbon cutting for the Frederick Community College Building M – Carl and Norma Miller Children’s Center Repurposing Project!

It was a wonderful morning celebrating a project that represents the power of community, collaboration, and investment in the future. This repurposed space will provide meaningful benefits for students, faculty, and the broader Frederick community for years to come.

We are proud to have played a part in bringing this project to life and grateful to everyone who helped make this vision a reality. Congratulations to Frederick Community College on this exciting milestone!

Intern of the Day Spotlight: Chase Witmer!

This summer marks Chase Witmer's second year interning with Dustin Construction! Returning for another summer has allowed Chase to build on the experience he gained last year while taking on a greater role supporting two major K-12 projects: Baltimore Polytechnic Institute/Western High School and Frederick Douglass High School.

With one project just getting underway and the other nearing completion, Chase has had the unique opportunity to experience both the beginning and end of the construction process. From attending preconstruction meetings and learning how projects are planned and coordinated to assisting with punch list activities, final inspections, quality control, project documentation, and turnover, he's gaining firsthand insight into what it takes to successfully deliver a project from start to finish.

Throughout the summer, Chase has worked alongside our project managers, superintendents, trade partners, and design professionals, developing a deeper understanding of how communication, scheduling, safety, and teamwork drive every phase of construction.

At Dustin Construction, we're proud to invest in future construction professionals by providing meaningful, hands-on learning opportunities. Chase's decision to return for a second summer reflects both his passion for the industry and his commitment to continued growth. We're excited to watch him build on his experience and continue developing the skills that will support a successful career in construction.

Intern of the Day Spotlight: Michael Tippett!

This summer, Michael Tippett has been gaining valuable hands-on experience as part of the Dustin Construction team while working on the Carroll County Office of the State's Attorney Office Building project. This local government project has given Michael the opportunity to see firsthand how collaboration, planning, and communication come together to successfully deliver a complex public facility.

By working alongside our Dustin team, trade partners and local government representatives, Michael has been exposed to the day-to-day coordination that keeps a project moving forward. From observing field operations and participating in project meetings to learning about scheduling, quality control, and safety, he's developing a strong understanding of what it takes to build successful projects from the ground up.

At Dustin Construction, we believe the best learning happens through real-world experience. We're proud to have Michael as part of our team this summer and are excited to watch him continue building the skills and confidence that will support a successful career in the construction industry.

This summer, our interns have been out in the field, gaining hands-on experience across projects throughout Maryland and Virginia. From connecting with project teams to seeing firsthand what it takes to build some of Dustin Construction's most exciting work, they've had the opportunity to learn beyond the classroom.

Today's interns are tomorrow's project engineers, superintendents, project managers, and industry leaders. We're proud to be part of their journey by providing meaningful experiences, mentorship, and opportunities that help shape the future of construction.

Over the next few weeks, we'll be introducing an Intern of the Day, giving each intern the chance to share what has made their summer with Dustin so valuable.

A special thank you to Chris Shanahan and Dave for showing us around your well-established warehouse. Our summer interns gained a lot of knowledge from the Ruff Roofers team! Dustin hit the green and teed off at the 4th Annual Charity Golf Classic! ⛳️ Thanks to the incredible support of our sponsors and partners, this year’s tournament benefited three outstanding local charities: SHIP (Student Homelessness Initiative Partnership), ACE Mentor Program of Frederick, and Brook Lane. We enjoyed a great day of networking, friendly competition, and giving back to our community alongside the sponsors and partners who helped make another successful tournament possible.

Dustin is wrapping up Construction Safety Week 2026 strong. This week was all about being All In Together through the pillars of Recognize, Respond, and Respect. At Dustin, safety is more than a checklist, it’s how we plan our work, communicate as a team, and protect one another every single day.

A huge thank you to all our amazing employees who participated in toolbox talks, site discussions, lunches, contests, and team activities throughout the week. Your involvement helps build the safety culture that keeps our jobsites strong.
