The best-finished spaces have one thing in common: everything that should be hidden is hidden.

Structural columns make that possible for electrical work inside a porch. Clean lines on the outside and everything exactly where it needs to be inside.

The details that disappear into the build are sometimes the ones that take the most thought to plan correctly.

A permit isn’t paperwork for the sake of paperwork. It’s the record that proves your deck was built to code, inspected and done correctly.

Without it, that proof doesn’t exist and at some point down the road, whether it’s an insurance claim or a home sale, that gap tends to show up at the worst possible time.

The steps that separate a deck built to last from one that just looks good on day one are rarely the ones you can see.

They happen in the framing, in the structure, in the parts of the build that get covered up before the first board ever goes down.

Taping the blocking is one of those steps. It takes more time, but it’s one of the reasons our builds hold up the way they do years after the project is complete.
