Working on some feather Damascus earlier today. That's about a 4-in chisel cut which took a little while and then once you're done making the cut you've got a 412 it back together still entirely worth it you can see the feather pattern in the billet already

I got tired of juggling angle grinders and die grinders while working in the forge so I made a tree to hold them. I added a couple of pieces to hold chuck wrenches and decided to go ahead and add power to it to help keep the cord maze neater. Hypothetically if I only picked up one grinder at a time then my cords should stay untangled. I'll be testing that hypothesis. It is not super fancy, I made it out of crap lumber and. Used electrical boxes.. we'll see how it goes though and see if there'thete are features that need to be added to the next one.

It is not often that I have to cut through inch thick metal but this afternoon I cut through 1-in thick leaf spring using my Yeswelder CUT-65DS plasma cutter. This isn't a paid endorsement or anything like that but when I get tools that perform very well I like to share that with others. Both the plasma cutter and the MIG -205 DS wire feed welder that I bought at the same time have performed very well. I've had both of them for about 3 years now. The MIG welder is my go-to welder for just about everything when I'm in the forge and has seen a great deal of use. I still use my Lincoln AC/DC stick welder and my TIG when appropriate but for everyday welding I generally turn to the MIG-205DS.

I'm finishing up a couple of couple of 4-in hunters today. The knives are made from D2 tool steel which it is tough and holds an edge very well because of its hardness. Overall length of the knife is 8 and 1/2 in. The handles are made from stabilized purple heart. Both knives have a pancake sheath. Also I am a great-grandfather today, it's been a good day.

In order to improve the bonding of the scales to the knife I've been electrically etching a dot pattern into the handle....

In order to improve the bonding of the scales to the knife I've been electrically etching a dot pattern into the handle. Epoxy typically gives you a higher bond strength with 0,010 to 0.020 inch bond thickness. This pattern ensures that a proper bond thickness is maintained.

This is a small Hunter done using 144 layer ladder pattern Damascus made from 80CRV2 and 15N20. The knife is 7 and 1/2 in overall with a 3 and 1/2 in blade. The scales are made from stabilized box elder burl dyed red.
