California is putting home solar to work.

Two new bills aim to make better use of the solar and battery systems already installed on California homes—helping strengthen the grid while avoiding unnecessary infrastructure projects that can drive up costs.

“We’re at a time when every electron counts,” said Erin Kiel, Senior Director of State Policy and Government Relations at Qcells.

Qcells says the legislation can help lower energy costs and improve grid resilience without increasing pollution.

It’s encouraging to see California looking for ways to maximize the clean energy homeowners have already invested in.
