Hans S. Keirstead serves as Chairman of Immunis, a clinical-stage biotechnology company developing multi-active, stem cell-derived secretome therapies aimed at addressing age- and disease-related immune decline. The company’s lead investigational biologic, IMM01-STEM, is designed to harness beneficial stem cell factors to modulate multiple pathways involved in cell-to-cell communication, tissue development, and immune responses, to reduce susceptibility to disease.
A major milestone under Hans’ leadership came in January 2026, as Immunis released the first-ever Phase 2 data for a secretome-based biologic, demonstrating clinically meaningful weight loss with preserved muscle and improved gait speed in obese sarcopenic seniors.
Earlier in his career, Hans spent 15 years at the University of California, Irvine, where he served as a distinguished professor, mentored more than 100 students, published over 150 manuscripts, and helped establish and direct the $77 million Stem Cell Research Center. He holds a PhD in neuroscience from the University of British Columbia and completed postdoctoral studies at the University of Cambridge.
CONGRATULATIONS, DR. KEIRSTEAD!!!
