This month's heat waves are pushing regional grids close to their limits, and it's a preview of what August will look like every year going forward. As MEPFT engineers, we're seeing more clients ask us to model electrification and on-site generation not as a 'someday' upgrade, but as a resiliency requirement for next year's design.
The conversation has shifted from "should we electrify" to "how do we sequence it without blowing the capital budget." Heat pumps, battery storage, and demand response controls are no longer novelty line items, they're becoming standard scope on our mechanical narratives.
