In Albuquerque, New Mexico for the Western District ITE meeting. A wealth of information!
Lots of informative sessions. I learned about Roundabout designs. We are building them too small with design's that allow confusing for the driver, in Washington state.
Few cities and few private consultants from WA attending. 😕 It is well worth it to send staff to learn and grow professionally! All citizens benefit when professionals get quality and veritay in their continuing education!!

This shows why you should never drive through flooded roads. There's no telling if the base under the road is still there or not. Turn around, don't drown. (...

For those in the Snoqualmie Valley, please take time to check on King County Road closures. The weather continues to cause some disruption in where and how we drive on the Valley roads.

For all my neighbors in the Snoqualmie Valley
PLEASE NOTE THIS TRAFFIC ALERT AND SHARE WITH YOUR FRIENDS!
During heavy rains in March 2014, a landslide undermined West Snoqualmie Valley Road Northeast. A temporary repair by county maintenance crews allowed both lanes to remain open while the county prepared for a full reconstruction.
Beginning Monday, Oct. 5, 2015 at 6:30 a.m., King County will close both lanes of West Snoqualmie Valley Road Northeast just north of Northeast Novelty Hill Road to through traffic for approximately three weeks in order to repair damage from the landslide and reconstruct the road. Detour signs will be posted to alert travelers to the closure. There are several alternative routes that bypass the closure. For safety, construction crews will use a fence with a locked gate to securely close the construction site.
This project will:
• Remove unstable soil
• Build a retaining wall
• Reconstruct the roadway
• Install a guardrail
• Plant native vegetation
