If you haven't visited FBA's Life Cycle Assessment resources recently, now is a good time to bookmark them.

Independent research conducted by Anthesis Group confirms what the corrugated industry has long known: corrugated packaging delivers strong environmental performance across the metrics that matter most. The 2025 Comparative LCA found that corrugated outperforms reusable plastic containers (RPCs) in four of eight environmental impact categories, including 57 to 110 percent better performance in greenhouse gas emissions, respiratory health effects, and non-renewable energy use.

FBA's LCA resource page includes the full study, executive summary, infographic, press release, and FAQ for both the 2025 comparative study and the 2020 industry LCA. These are useful tools for member sustainability communications and customer conversations.

International Paper has broken ground on its new $225 Million 470,000 Square foot facility in Brandon, Mississippi, during a ceremony attended by Mississippi Governor Tate Reeves.

The Fibre Box Association's (FBA) Safety & Health Committee held its first meeting of the year on May 19, with its new chair, Chris Weber of Schwarz Partners / The Royal Group, and vice-chair Steve Ledford of Georgia-Pacific.

The group covered a full agenda, including a presentation from ALL4 on Lockout/Tagout and the Minor Service Exception, a discussion of the Innovation in Safety Awards, updates on ongoing safety topics, and roundtable discussions on emerging technologies and industry best practices.

FBA regrets to share the passing of our former Board of Directors member Jordan Nerenberg on May 22, 2026.

A true industry leader, Jordan was the former CEO and later the Chairman of the Royal Continental Box Company (now TRG Packaging and Display Solutions) and served as the Chairman of the Independent Corrugated Executive Committee.

"Above all else, Jordan Nerenberg was a mensch: a man who showed up for people fully, treated others with dignity, found joy in celebration, and carried responsibility not as a burden but as a privilege."

Last week, Fibre Box Association (FBA) President Bob McIlvaine presented at FEFCO’s 2026 Summit in Madrid, Spain. FEFCO is the voice of the European corrugated packaging industry, and the summit brings together its membership and international leaders and experts to discuss today’s industry landscape.

This year’s theme was “circularity in action,” and McIlvaine participated in a panel on corrugated packaging as a circularity champion with other industry representatives. He showcased the latest findings from the Corrugated Packaging Alliance’s 2025 Comparative Life Cycle Assessment, which measured the environmental impacts of corrugated packaging versus reusable plastic containers (RPCs).
