As cold weather approaches here are some suggestions to prevent frozen pipes.

1. Keep internal temperature in the home above 55 degrees,

2. Keep trickling water in the inside faucets and cabinet doors opened at night to prevent pipes from freezing. The cost for the water is much cheaper than the result of busted pipes.

3. Know where your main water shutoff valve is located and if a bursted pipe is noticed shut the valve to off.

4. Remove garden hoses and leave unhooked from outside faucets and cover to insulate.

5. Pay attention to all the water lines that you cannot leave dripping, especially on exterior walls like washing machine and toilet lines.
