Cleaned 1/2 of this boat and got a comparison video. You'll see a loose zinc anode on the shaft.
In the second video I show what most likely caused the zinc to loosen as well.

I did not have all of my salvage equipment on hand, but this vessel was holding a lot of disel so I put what boom I had to soak up and got working quickly to get her up and minimize the environmental impact. Fortunately I had enough equipment and nearby resources to get her up pretty quickly.
