I knew it was going to be BIG… but WOW!

We just passed our framing inspection on this massive two-story detached garage, and yesterday we got to walk through it and really see just how much space we’ve created!

What used to be a small, detached garage is being replaced with a THREE-CAR garage that’s nearly THREE TIMES the size, with a livable apartment upstairs for family and guests!

It’s amazing how different a space feels once the walls are up and you can actually walk through it.

And we’re just getting started! Follow along as we turn this giant structure into something pretty special.

“How long have you been laying brick?” His answer deserves a listen.

Behind every beautiful brick detail is a craftsperson with a story. We love getting to know the people whose hands bring these homes to life.

Do you have a skilled tradesperson in your family? Give them a shout-out below!

An empty nest… so why build a TWO-STORY garage?

These homeowners wanted space for visiting family, a place to create art, and a little privacy for everyone.

We’re building it from the ground up—and because it’s in a historic district, the finished garage will need to look right at home beside their bungalow.

Come along with Jeff for the FIRST THREE WEEKS of construction!

What would you use the extra space for—guests, an art studio, or something else?

There is something to say about an old kitchen that turns out nicer than expected when remodeled! The one that you just walk into multiple times a day...without even being hungry. The one that makes you want to cook for your friends. That is the kitchen where you just sit and say, well done, Kitchen! You did great!

If you own an old house, you already know… the list is never actually finished.

You reglaze the windows.
Then you discover the cloth wiring.

You finally replace the galvanized pipes.
Then someone mentions the plaster.

And somewhere in between, you remember you still need a COA for the fence.

That’s just life with an old house.

They’re beautiful. They have character. They have history. And occasionally, they have a to-do list that makes you wonder what exactly you got yourself into.

The good news is, you don’t have to know how to fix all of it yourself.

There are people who understand old houses, know why they were built the way they were, and know that sometimes the answer isn’t to rip everything out and start over.

So keep the house. Keep the character. Keep adding things to the list.

And when the list gets a little ridiculous… there are people who can help.
