⚡ – A common misconception about grounding devices is that they protect your property from lightning strikes, but truth be told, this is incorrect.

Grounding and bounding primarily serve one purpose: to protect people from being electrocuted or equipment side flash, which means if you are standing next to a piece of equipment that receives an electric surge, you don't become the path of least resistance. Ground fault protection can detect just enough resistance to save a life. Alternating current always returns to its source.

Surge protection can help, but if you have a 60hz TV and take a 10khz strike, most likely, you are buying new stuff. What you want is "Low Let-Through Rating UL 1449" when purchasing surge protection.

High Joule Rating: the joule rating of a surge protector indicates how much electrical energy it can absorb without failing, select a surge protector with a joule rating of at least 1,000.

Developers/Owners: Are you losing time and money to change orders for your property’s internet infrastructure or access control system? Third-party consulting firms and decisions made after contract may be costing you more by leaving gaps in the scope of work that result in Change Orders – or worse, limiting your options after construction has begun.

If a developer goes to contract with a GC and has yet to select what type of internet service or access control setup they are using, how will they know where and how much conduit is needed?
