OUR PROCESS

Over the years, the professionals at Harrington Homes have developed a home building process that has been praised by its customers. The process is highly collaborative. We work hand-in-hand with our customers and our vendors to make the process of building a new home as positive and fruitful as possible. In general, our process includes:

1.Review of locations, plans and options
2.Bl

ueprint development, design and customization decisions
3.Pricing/estimating, contracting and financing
4.Pre-construction meeting, “just before we dig”
5.Permit procurement, staking, digging… through… framing
6.Selections and installation of cabinetry, fixtures, flooring, colors, hardware and others. While some of these steps are the same as other builders may use, there are several parts of our process that make working with Harrington Homes a pleasure:

1.We personally take our customers to our cabinet, electrical, plumbing, tile and carpet suppliers to help them with their selections.
2.Once we begin construction, we talk to our customers regularly about their selections and our construction progress.
3.We are available to answer questions for our customers throughout the building process.
4.When the home is complete, we conduct a new home orientation and complete our thorough inspection process.

Our clients love houses that have been designed just for them. In fact nearly 60% either have us modify a plan we already have or ask us to start from scratch and design something just for them. Our design team is made up of our architect, ourselves and of course you. We all work together to get the design you want in a price range you are comfortable with. Traditional design, transitional or contemporary, our job is to understand what you would like and to help create it for you. We even have clients ask us to create custom themed garages as part of the design. Over the last few years the sizes of the custom homes we have built have ranged from just under 1500SF to just under 5000SF. Whether you want to build in a neighborhood or on your lot, we bring over 25 years of experience in design and construction.

What often gets overlooked is how many key costs are influenced long before construction begins.

The lot itself plays a major role. Soil conditions, slope, drainage, and access can all affect what it takes to properly prepare the site. From there, design choices like rooflines, foundation type, window placement, and structural complexity continue to shape the overall investment.

Even homes with similar square footage can vary significantly in cost based on these early decisions.

That’s why the planning phase matters so much. It’s the point where adjustments are simple, thoughtful, and far less expensive than changes made later in the process.
