👩‍🏭Behind the Helmet: Naomi Oliva, welder
📍Seguin, TX

I got into welding because I enjoy hands-on work and wanted to build a better life for my daughter. When I first started, the biggest challenge was learning how to read blueprints, but once I got the hang of it, everything started to come together.

What I enjoy most about welding is working with my hands and the sense of accomplishment that comes from seeing a project completed. Every day brings something new to learn and another opportunity to grow.

If you're thinking about getting into welding, my advice is simple: be ready to work hard and get ready for the heat! It's a challenging career, but it's also incredibly rewarding.

👩‍🏭Behind the Helmet: Angie Kuehn, welder
📍Janesville, WI

I got into welding out of spite! My family said I couldn't do it. Twenty years later, I'm still proving them wrong and killing it! When the recession hit, I knew I needed a career that could provide financial stability for my family. Welding gave me that opportunity.

My biggest supporter was my mom. She never let me give up, and she encouraged me as I built my career in an industry where women are still underrepresented.

My advice to anyone starting in welding is to stay humble, accept feedback, keep learning, and never stop growing. The more you know, the more valuable you become.
