DSB Technologies

DSB Technologies DSB Technologies utilizes powder metallurgy, metal injection molding, and metal binder jetting to design complex metal components for high-volume production.

For over 40 years, we have been on a mission to change the way powder metal parts are designed and engineered. DSB Technologies traces its roots back to the production of porous metal components as the Panoramic sintering division of the Parker Pen Company. In 1980, Parker Pen sells the sintering division to a group of investors who form SSI Technologies, where SSI Sintered Specialties begins its

long history of manufacturing innovation for functional, high-performance powder metal components. Nearly four decades later, SSI Sintered Specialties renames to DSB Technologies with the same enthusiastic ownership and vision for a transformative manufacturing landscape with new metallurgical solutions.

DSB Technologies is proud to call Janesville home. For two generations, our company has invested in manufacturing, created family-supporting careers, and contributed to the strength of our community. As we continue to expand into advanced manufacturing and the defense industrial base, we understand firsthand the importance of maintaining a business environment that encourages investment, innovation, and long-term economic growth.

After careful consideration, DSB Technologies has chosen to support the Grow Janesville Responsibly Coalition because we believe the proposed referendum would make it significantly more difficult for Janesville to attract future large-scale manufacturing and industrial investment.

We also recognize that residents have legitimate concerns about the impact major developments can have on our community, including water usage, wastewater capacity, environmental quality, traffic, lighting, noise, and overall quality of life. Those concerns deserve thoughtful consideration and should never be dismissed.

We believe responsible growth is best achieved through rigorous technical review, comprehensive planning, and regulatory oversight—not through a blanket referendum requirement that creates uncertainty for future investment. Existing planning and zoning processes, utility and wastewater capacity reviews, environmental permitting, and state and local regulations are specifically designed to evaluate these issues and ensure that new developments meet high standards for public safety, environmental stewardship, and infrastructure capacity.

We also believe that businesses choosing to invest in Janesville should be responsible for supporting the infrastructure necessary for their operations and mitigating the impacts they create. Economic growth should not come at the expense of our residents or our environment.

Our position is not about supporting one company or one specific project. It is about ensuring that Janesville remains competitive for future opportunities that create high-quality jobs, strengthen our tax base, redevelop long-vacant industrial property, and build a stronger future for our community.

We respect that members of our community may have different perspectives on this issue, and we appreciate the importance of open dialogue. Our decision reflects our belief that Janesville can protect its citizens while remaining competitive for the next generation of manufacturing and industrial investment. We believe responsible economic development and responsible environmental stewardship are not competing priorities—they are both essential to the long-term success of our community.

DSB Technologies is proud to announce Dan Blum as the 2025 Klawitter Award recipient.

The Klawitter Award is DSB’s Employee of the Year award, recognizing employees who demonstrate dedication, mentorship, perseverance, technical excellence, and support of positive change.

Dan has been part of the DSB team for more than two decades. Beginning as an operator, he quickly demonstrated exceptional technical ability, initiative, and a strong commitment to learning. Through years of hard work and dedication, he advanced into a key technical leadership role within our organization.

Dan has been central to the growth and development of DSB’s machining department, from the days when there were only a few CNC machines in the facility to the selection, purchase, implementation, and development of nearly every CNC mill and lathe added over the years.

Employees consistently describe Dan as someone who shares his knowledge freely, builds confidence in those around him, and takes the time to teach others in a way that encourages growth and learning.

Congratulations, Dan, and thank you for your continued commitment to DSB Technologies. Your dedication and positive impact do not go unnoticed!
