DSB Technologies is proud to call Janesville home. For two generations, our company has invested in manufacturing, created family-supporting careers, and contributed to the strength of our community. As we continue to expand into advanced manufacturing and the defense industrial base, we understand firsthand the importance of maintaining a business environment that encourages investment, innovation, and long-term economic growth.
After careful consideration, DSB Technologies has chosen to support the Grow Janesville Responsibly Coalition because we believe the proposed referendum would make it significantly more difficult for Janesville to attract future large-scale manufacturing and industrial investment.
We also recognize that residents have legitimate concerns about the impact major developments can have on our community, including water usage, wastewater capacity, environmental quality, traffic, lighting, noise, and overall quality of life. Those concerns deserve thoughtful consideration and should never be dismissed.
We believe responsible growth is best achieved through rigorous technical review, comprehensive planning, and regulatory oversight—not through a blanket referendum requirement that creates uncertainty for future investment. Existing planning and zoning processes, utility and wastewater capacity reviews, environmental permitting, and state and local regulations are specifically designed to evaluate these issues and ensure that new developments meet high standards for public safety, environmental stewardship, and infrastructure capacity.
We also believe that businesses choosing to invest in Janesville should be responsible for supporting the infrastructure necessary for their operations and mitigating the impacts they create. Economic growth should not come at the expense of our residents or our environment.
Our position is not about supporting one company or one specific project. It is about ensuring that Janesville remains competitive for future opportunities that create high-quality jobs, strengthen our tax base, redevelop long-vacant industrial property, and build a stronger future for our community.
We respect that members of our community may have different perspectives on this issue, and we appreciate the importance of open dialogue. Our decision reflects our belief that Janesville can protect its citizens while remaining competitive for the next generation of manufacturing and industrial investment. We believe responsible economic development and responsible environmental stewardship are not competing priorities—they are both essential to the long-term success of our community.
