Our CTO Ross Radel spoke at the President's Special Session of the prestigious American Nuclear Society Annual Conference this week. He also joined the panel "How Nuclear Technologies Will Shape the Future Energy Economy" and presented multiple papers on used nuclear fuel recycling, fusion materials testing, and fission-fusion hybrid systems at scale.

What to do with used nuclear fuel is one of the more complex challenges in nuclear energy. We're working to change that. Our approach builds the technical and economic case for a closed nuclear fuel cycle.

As we enter this new era for nuclear medicine, we're delighted to introduce our leadership team who will support what comes next:
• Kevin Reimer, Vice President, Global Sales – Nuclear Medicine — his tenure in nuclear medicine includes senior roles at ARTMS, Isotope Technologies of Munich (ITM), and Jubilant Radiopharma
• Mark Przekop, Vice President, Regulatory Affairs & Compliance — a registered pharmacist whose experience spans radiopharmaceutical manufacturing, regulatory affairs, QA, and supply chain, with COO and VP-level roles at Nucleus RadioPharma, ARTMS, Mirion Medical, and Jubilant Radiopharma
• Natalie Tucker, Head of Corporate Development & Chief of Staff — her oncology and radiopharmaceutical experience spans Y-mAbs Therapeutics, Novartis Radioligand Therapy, and Guidehouse Consulting

Find us at booth 637 in Los Angeles to discuss the future of nuclear medicine with our team.

Wisconsin has been building toward a leadership role in fusion energy longer than many realize. UW-Madison's nuclear program has trained the people doing this work, and we've grown out of that same ecosystem.

Earlier this month, that foundation was on full display at the Great Lakes Fusion Energy Summit in Madison. Our CTO Ross Radel was a keynote panelist, joining Governor Evers, researchers, policymakers, and fusion companies from across the region to talk about how nuclear can meet growing energy demand.

We were proud to help sponsor the Summit and be part of that conversation.

We've been busy -- and we're growing!

Today we're welcoming three new senior leaders and announcing an expanded role for one of our longest-tenured executives.

Already this year we closed a $240 million Series E led by Dr. Patrick Soon-Shiong. We acquired Lantheus's SPECT business. We secured a $263 million conditional loan commitment from the U.S. Department of Energy for our Chrysalis isotope production facility. And we're not done....

Kyle Stacey joins as Chief Financial Officer. He spent 17+ years at Exact Sciences, helping scale it from fewer than ten employees to a $23 billion acquisition by Abbott, with more than $7 billion raised along the way.

Chris Lee, our CFO since 2021, steps into a new role as Chief Strategy Officer. Chris has shaped some of the most consequential decisions in our growth. Now he'll focus full-time on strategy, partnerships, and corporate development.

David Willbrand joins as Chief Legal Officer. He was founding CLO of Pacaso, where he raised more than $300 million in equity and structured over $1 billion in debt facilities.

Ralph Alexander joins our Board of Directors. He's Chairman and CEO of GridfreeAI, former CEO of Talen Energy and BP Gas, Power & Renewables, and a longtime partner at Riverstone and Carlyle.

As our founder and CEO, Greg Piefer, says, "Fusion will reshape how the world makes energy. The companies that get there will be the ones building the technology and the business at the same time."

That's what we've always done. And that's what we'll continue to do at a larger scale.

SHINE Technologies names a new CFO, CSO, CLO, and board director following a $240M Series E and conditional $263M DOE loan commitment.

The U.S. has accumulated more than 90,000 metric tons of used nuclear fuel since the 1950s. All of it could fit on a football field, about ten yards deep.

While many call it waste, we call it a valuable energy resource.

More than 90% of the energy potential in used nuclear fuel remains, even after years of reactor use. France has been recovering it for decades, but the U.S. hasn't yet. We're working to change that.

Our recent blog covers how nuclear waste is actually stored in the U.S., why commercial recycling stalled in the 1970s, and the three-step process we're building: recover usable fuel, repurpose high-value isotopes and metals with partners like Zeno Power and Standard Nuclear, and convert (transmute) what's left using fusion-generated neutrons.

Read all about it here:

Used nuclear fuel isn’t what you think. It holds vast amounts of recoverable energy. SHINE is making recycling used nuclear fuel a commercial reality.

For Take Your Child to Work Day, SHINE kids got an answer to a question they probably ask all the time: what does Mom or Dad do all day?

They suited up in PPE (personal protective equipment, they now know) to tour Cassiopeia — our facility where we make Ilumira, a cancer-fighting radiopharmaceutical — watched part of the isotope production process, and even ran a chemistry project of their own: making bath bombs.

The national theme this year is "The Future is @ Work." Based on what we saw, the future looks pretty curious!

We're building toward cleaner energy for the future. We also take care of the planet we have now.

For Earth Day, we volunteered at two local nonprofits preparing for spring and summer planting: the Aldo Leopold Nature Center in Monona and Rotary Botanical Gardens in Janesville. Closer to home, we also spent time tidying up the grounds at our Janesville and Fitchburg campuses.

Both nonprofits do so much for our community year-round, from environmental education programs to the trails, gardens, and green spaces people love. It felt good to give a little back.

Huge thanks to both organizations for having us, and to our employees for showing up. 🌱

Energy Intelligence covered our $263M conditional DOE loan commitment for Chrysalis — and the bigger picture of what it could mean for fusion's commercial future.

The US has no domestic commercial source of molybdenum-99. Every dose travels from aging reactors in Europe, South Africa, or Australia. A third to half of every shipment decays before it even arrives.

We're building the fix. Chrysalis will be the world's largest medical isotope facility, producing up to 20 million doses of Mo-99 annually, right here in Janesville, Wisconsin.

The fusion investment community is divided on commercialization. Our founder and CEO, Greg Piefer weighs in:

Shine Technologies CEO Greg Piefer tells Energy Intelligence that the DOE loan commitment shows that nuclear fusion tech is already delivering value.

"What's your favorite thing about working at SHINE?"
"Directly contributing to massive, first-of-a-kind projects, like Chrysalis!"

Join us on our journey to create a safer, healthier, cleaner world.
We have job openings in Wisconsin and Massachusetts.

"Access to cost-effective fusion won't only allow us to meet the needs of data centers. It's going to make energy so cheap over time that we're going to be able to solve all kinds of problems we cannot solve today — problems we can't even imagine solving today."
