HVAC MYTH: Turning the thermostat way down will cool your home faster. ❌

For most central air-conditioning systems, lowering the setting doesn’t make the AC produce colder air or cool the house faster. It simply keeps the system running until it reaches the lower temperature.

Setting the thermostat to 65° when you want the house to reach 72° won’t speed up the process. It may only make the system run longer than necessary.

In North Georgia’s August heat, give your system a reasonable setting and let it work steadily.
