DC Youth Tour students are continuing to have an amazing time making new friends and creating lifelong memories!

Yesterday began with a visit to Mount Vernon, where students had the honor of participating in the morning flag-raising ceremony before touring the home and grounds of George Washington. From there, they headed to Planet Word for an interactive learning experience and were treated like VIPs as they stepped onto the White House red carpet.

The day continued with a visit to The People's House, offering an immersive look at the history and traditions of the White House, before wrapping up with dinner at Cadillac Ranch.

Phew! We're tired just writing about it. One more exciting day remains before these students head back home with unforgettable experiences and memories to last a lifetime. Jay High School

Please bear with us as we work through several outages across our system. With the heavy rainfall we’ve received, tree roots have become saturated, and it doesn’t take much wind to bring trees down onto power lines.

Our crews are working diligently and safely to restore power as quickly as possible. We appreciate your patience and understanding.

You can view our outage map here: http://12.21.156.105:5050/

When you run everything at once—like your washer, dryer, oven and A/C—demand for electricity spikes. The grid has to work harder and that impacts energy costs. To control your costs, try leveling the load by using major appliances one at a time. We’ll all reap the benefits.

Yesterday, also known as "Hill Day," kicked off with the NRECA Advocacy in Action program, giving students an inside look at how advocacy shapes public policy and supports electric cooperatives. They then spent time meeting with legislators and exploring some of the nation's most iconic landmarks, including the U.S. Capitol, the Library of Congress, and the National Museum of Natural History. The day wrapped up with a memorable evening at National Harbor, where students had the opportunity to relax and enjoy time together.

We want to thank staff from the offices of Congressman Jimmy Patronis, Senator Ashley Moody, and Senator Rick Scott for spending time with our students! Jay High School

Another amazing day on the Youth Tour in Washington, D.C.!

Our delegates packed a lot into their day as they explored some of our nation's most meaningful landmarks and memorials. Highlights included visits to Arlington National Cemetery, the 9/11 Memorial, and Pentagon City Mall. They also had the opportunity to see several iconic monuments, including the Lincoln Memorial, FDR Memorial, Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial, and the World War II, Vietnam, and Korean War Memorials.

To top off an already unforgettable day, the group enjoyed a dinner cruise on the beautiful Potomac River, taking in breathtaking views of the nation's capital from the water.

Needless to say, these students are having an incredible experience, making memories, building friendships, and learning more about our country's history and leadership every step of the way. And the weather has been absolutely perfect! ☀️✨
