(1)

Providing expert radon, v***r intrusion, green building, sustainability, and indoor environmental quality services for homes and buildings in the communities we serve nationwide. Our mission is to educate the public on the dangers of exposure to harmful indoor contaminants, like radon gas, the leading cause of lung cancer among non-smokers. Radon has been found at elevated levels in homes and buil

dings across the U.S. and is responsible for the deaths of more than 21,000 Americans every year. By raising awareness about the importance of breathing healthy and safe air in the places we live, work, and learn, our goal is to encourage the general public to take action by testing for radon and mitigating against environmental risks in their homes and buildings. Currently providing commercial radon and v***r intrusion services nationally and residential radon services in the following locations: Louisville, KY, Lexington, KY, Columbus, OH, New Jersey, Ann Arbor, MI, Chicago, IL, Colorado, and Utah.

Indoor air quality isn’t always something you can see, but it’s an important part of creating a healthier indoor environment for the people who live there - pets, too!

🏠 A healthier home starts from the ground up.

When building a new home, indoor air quality may not be the first thing that comes to mind—but what happens beneath the foundation can have a lasting impact on the air inside - and the health of your family.

Radon is a naturally occurring radioactive gas that can enter buildings through the soil below. Because you can’t see, smell, or taste it, the only way to know a home’s radon level is with a test.

Radon resistant new construction offers an opportunity to think proactively about preventing soil gases before the home is even finished.

One important piece of that strategy is a properly installed v***r barrier or soil-gas membrane beneath the foundation. When integrated into a radon-resistant construction approach, this barrier can help:

🔹 Reduce pathways for radon and other soil gases to enter the home
🔹 Limit moisture v***r moving from the ground into the building
🔹 Support better long-term indoor air quality
🔹 Make future radon mitigation easier when paired with other radon-resistant construction features

The key is planning early. Incorporating radon-resistant features during construction can be simpler than addressing elevated radon after a home is built. Bonus - you can integrate the finished system into your building plans, meaning it can be hidden into the walls and out of sight!

⚠️ And remember: radon-resistant construction doesn’t replace the need for testing. Every home should still be tested after construction to understand its actual radon level. Testing every 2 years is recommended as radon levels can change.

If at any point your new home has elevated radon levels (even with a passive radon resistant install), your existing passive system can easily be activated with a fan to help reduce levels.

At Protect Environmental, we believe healthier indoor environments start from the ground up.

You check the batteries. You change the filters. You keep up with the things that help make your home a safer place. 🏠

But when was the last time you tested for radon?

Radon is an invisible, odorless gas, which means you won’t know the level in your home without a test. A radon test can give you the information you need to better understand your indoor environment and determine what steps, if any, should come next.

Add radon testing to your home health checklist. ✅

🏡 There's one part of every home tour you can't see.

A home can look perfect from top to bottom, but appearances don't reveal radon levels.

Because radon is colorless and odorless, testing is the only way to know your home's level. It's a simple step that can help you make informed decisions about your indoor air.

One number every homeowner should know.

According to the EPA, nearly 1 in 15 U.S. homes has a radon level that should be reduced.

Radon can't be seen or smelled, so many homeowners don't realize it's there. Fortunately, testing is quick, simple, and the only way to know your home's radon level.

Does radon mitigation actually work? 🏡

It does.

Radon mitigation systems are designed to safely draw radon gas from beneath your home and vent it outside before it enters your living space.

Every home is built differently, so every system is customized. Once installed, the system should always be followed by a post-mitigation test to confirm your radon levels have been reduced.

If you've tested high for radon, mitigation is a proven next step.
