New construction can feel like a mystery, especially when you see markings on the studs that look like another language.🔎�It may look like gibberish, but it’s actually the shorthand builders use to keep your home accurate and built to plan.�Take a doorway marked
“3/0L priv base”
for example. Here’s what that code means:
3/0
– a 3‑foot‑wide door
L
– left‑hand swing door
Priv
– privacy doorknob (often used for bedrooms and bathrooms)
Base
– add a baseboard doorstop.
These markings help the team stay on the same page so everything ends up where it’s supposed to be.
