After a storm you will start getting door knockers regarding potential roof damage. Like in most cases in life - some are good and reputable and some are bad and might take advantage of you. This is a huge undertaking and you need a great roofer, a great roofing system, and a great warranty. You don't have to spend hours researching but I would take a few minutes to watch some Youtube videos(https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PL57CUjbCtZ62O4aO7jLOvulEF4Rp0HJgX) and check out our website www.gaf.com.
I know almost all of the local roofers and if you need a referral I will be happy to get someone out to your house to either tarp your house or start the insurance claims process.
Other than what's in the below picture I would add a few items:
1. Salesmen are supposed to be nice so don't make a decision based on them being nice. (They ain't sending out the grumpy people to sell)
2. Trust but verify. (Have them show you their insurance, license, certification, and look up their Google reviews.)
3. Do not give them any money up front. (Ask questions about how the insurance policy pays you/them.)
4. If you are missing shingles you need to get a tarp quickly or you will start having leaks in your house.
5. If someone is more interested in getting you to sign a contract than helping with your immediate issues there is a red flag.
6. It is illegal for a roofer to wave/eat your deductible. They don't want to go to prison for your roof.
7. Don't ask the roofer to give you a larger estimate so yall can pocket the money from the insurance company. (This is insurance fraud and you might be cellmates with your roofer)
Sorry for the long post but this is a major Huge LARGE decision when it comes to your home. This will probably be the last roof you put on your house unless another storm hits it. We have many different styles and colors of shingles based on your preferences. Ask for options.
