30s and SNOW❄️ are popping up on the forecast ensembles.

We can’t put much thought into the details, but the overall pattern changes are worth noting! As we get closer to November, we have to watch which models start to align with each other.

Winter isn’t far off!

❄️ NEW UPDATE - WINTER 2026–2027 SNOWFALL MODEL SIGNAL ❄️

Here is the latest CFSv2 24-cycle rolling blend for the entire meteorological winter—December, January and February combined.

The model is showing a widespread snowfall signal across much of the country, with the strongest totals focused across portions of the West, northern states, Great Lakes and Northeast. The southern edge of measurable snowfall also extends into parts of the Southern Plains, Mid-South and Southeast.

Remember, these are estimated totals for the entire three-month period—not one storm. This is an experimental long-range model signal, and exact totals, storm tracks and locations will change as winter approaches.

🌧️ A SOAKING RAIN FOR PARTS OF THE SOUTHERN PLAINS!

The latest WPC/NOAA 3-day rainfall projections for October 13–16 show a corridor of heavier rain stretching from Texas through parts of Oklahoma, Kansas and Missouri.

💧 Several areas could pick up 2–4 inches, with locally higher totals! Notice that sharp cutoff on the southeastern side—rainfall amounts could vary considerably over relatively short distances.

These are projected totals, and the placement of the heaviest rain can still shift.

Who needs a good soaking rain at their house? 👇

Another massive amount of birds coming Wednesday night and you can help!

About 80 million birds passed over Kansas and Missouri Sunday night, millions more are still coming.

Turn off or dim your outdoor lights and fill up the bird feeders!

FLASH FLOODING likely to impact the central and southern U.S later this week.

Hurricane Polo will begin its trek over Mexico and towards the central U.S this week, bringing abundant moisture as it phases with the upper level low swinging in from the west. This will result in widespread rainfall across the plains. For North Texas, I'm particularly eyeing Wednesday and Thursday for the greatest flooding potential.

Given how dry our soils our, it doesn't take a lot to flood. Dry soils become hydrophobic and can't absorb heavy rainfall quickly, resulting in runoff and potentially significant flooding.

Rainfall totals are still up in the air as it is highly dependent on Polo's track, but we could be looking at a couple inches in North Texas by the end of the work week.

Stay tuned as this forecast WILL change!
