If you’re starting to sneeze, it’s time to talk filters. We get asked about MERV ratings all the time. What’s the deal? MERV stands for Minimum Efficiency Reporting Value. Basically, the higher the number, the more "stuff" it catches.

For most homes here in the Joplin area, we recommend a MERV rating between 8 and 11. Why? It’s the perfect balance. It’s strong enough to trap dust, pollen, and pet dander, but it won’t restrict your airflow so much that it stresses out your system.
