Well, it's the time of year to test your heating before time to have to need it. Only about 2 weeks to overnight lows in the lower 40's to upper 30's. Also if you have electric heat or heat pump, 1 of these days you have your windows open, run your heat for about 10 minutes on emergency heat. You will get a burning smell that should only last a few minutes but will be less evident with your windows open. Be blessed and if you need us, we've been here for you for over 30 years.

Just a little FYI here! An HVAC certificate program can last anywhere between 6 to 12 months, costing between $2,500 -$15,000. An associate's degree can take 18 to 24 months to complete and cost you $15,000 – $35,000.

Our 1st bitter cold snap is upon us. We will have mild days Wed & Thurs to prepare. Friday night will dip into single digits. Make sure your water hoses are disconnected, as frost proof faucets and hydrants will not drain with hoses connected. Check to see that all vents and accesses are closed around the outside of your house and beginning Friday evening leave water dripping on indoor plumbing, as this helps prevent water line freeze ups. It is important to test your heating system this week. With warm Temps through the day, your house will gain heat, holding some over night. Not much heat will be retained on a cool night. On these cool mornings, turn on your heat long enough to be assured it will work when needed. Be blessed.

Money saving tips.
Before you disconnect your garden hose for the winter so your freeze proof faucet doesn't freeze and bust ( there's #1), rinse the outside coil on your ac or heatpump ( #2). Check your ac filter( #3). Unless there are major breathing problems with someone in your home absolutely do not buy the expensive 3M filters $14+. Lowe's has the best deal on standard size filters. 3 pak of 1" pleated around $9( #4). Most hvac systems are not installed well enough for the high merv filters. Develop a regular routine. My advice to when a customer ask, check after 2 months, more often if you have dogs, cats, ext. You may be able to go longer, but you have to Develop a calendar routine. ( #5). Dirty filters cost energy and equipment life.

Briarbrook and Country Club Estates Residents whose gas heat is out.
There is a gas supply line break. Not sure how long you will be out as it was a high pressure main.

Restart instructions. After supply has been turned back on.

Any pilot unit, shut control valve off for at least 5 minutes before attempting to relight.

Most newer systems are electronic ignition.
Turn off at the thermostat, wait 1 minute, then turn back to heat. If it fails to heat after 5 minutes, turn off breaker to heating unit 5 minutes, then turn power back on.
We will have service techs on call after service has been restored.
