Diesel Mechanic – Forest Management Operations
We’re hiring a Diesel Mechanic to support our Forest Management division, which runs a crew of 15 and operates across multiple demanding environments. Our year-round operations include logging, snow plowing, thinning, fire suppression, local hauling, road building, and more throughout the Flathead Valley.
With a diverse fleet of commercial and non-commercial trucks, heavy equipment, and forestry-specific machinery, we rely on skilled mechanics to keep our team running safely and efficiently. Key Responsibilities:
Perform diagnostic tests, troubleshoot issues, and complete repairs on diesel engines and heavy equipment
Service and maintain a wide range of equipment including skidders, loaders, excavators, log trucks, plow trucks, and trailers
Inspect and repair hydraulic, braking, and electrical systems
Maintain detailed records of maintenance and repairs
Assist with in-field breakdowns when necessary
Work as part of a team but also independently manage time and priorities
Contribute to a safe and positive work environment
Qualifications:
3+ years of hands-on experience as a diesel mechanic
Strong understanding of hydraulic systems, diesel engines, and heavy equipment operation
Experience with both small and large earth-moving and forestry equipment
Must provide your own basic mechanic tools
Valid driver’s license and clean driving record required
Class A CDL preferred but not required
ASE certifications are a plus but not required

Able to follow state and federal safety regulations
Strong time management and prioritization skills
Team-oriented with a willingness to assist other mechanics when needed
Clear communicator who works well with shop managers and field crew leaders
Self-motivated and driven to complete repairs thoroughly and correctly
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to lift up to 60 lbs and regularly lift 25 lbs
Frequent pushing, pulling, squatting, bending, and reaching
Able to stand or sit for extended periods
Comfortable working in various weather conditions, including outdoors when needed
