Regardless of temperature, all things generate electromagnetic radiation with a certain wavelength. The relationship between the temperature and the radiation's wavelength is inverse. Temperature and heat flow measurements are used in infrared and thermal testing to forecast or identify failure before it happens.
The non-destructive, non-intrusive, noncontact mapping of thermal patterns on the surface of objects is known as infrared thermography. It is the study of surface temperature measurement and mapping. The American Society for Nondestructive Testing has classified infrared and thermal testing as one of several nondestructive testing methods (ASNT).

Pinnacle Infrared recently assisted a client in finding an overloaded breaker utilizing our thermal infrared imaging tools. When the rated load for the circuit wire is exceeded, overloaded breakers happen, which causes the breaker to trip (termination of electricity to the entire circuit). An overload might cause the wiring to heat up, melt, or even catch fire in the absence of a circuit breaker.
