Dialectic Engineering

Dialectic Engineering Full-service mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) engineering design and consulting firm in KC. One who solves problems before they start.

You deserve a different kind of MEP partner—one who takes the time to understand your vision and executes it with the highest quality. One you actually enjoy working with. We excel at getting the job done right – and on time – by practicing the art of open and honest communication and delivering on the science of innovative engineering design. Relationships with our clients, partners and employee-

owners are at the core of who we are, and we understand they’re a two- way street. In everything we do, we embrace awesomeness. Founded in 1988 with offices in Kansas City, Austin and Denver, Dialectic Engineering is a nontraditional mechanical, electrical and plumbing engineering firm that brings buildings to life. With deep expertise in a range of verticals – including distribution, cannabis, multifamily, senior living and retail/restaurants – we know that true success comes when we partner as an extension of your team. We’re quick to respond and open to change. We’re forthcoming, forward-thinking, and not afraid to go against the grain to do the right thing. We look at the big picture, focusing on how people will interact with the space—and we know it’s never about us. We also believe great design doesn’t have to come at the expense of a great culture. A 100% employee- owned ESOP since 2015, we earned recognition as one of Kansas City’s Best Places to Work in 2020. We dig into every project with passion and curiosity because each of us has a personal stake in our work. Together, we’re engineering a better experience.

Happy National Intern Day!

One of the best parts of an internship is the opportunity to learn beyond the classroom, and this week was a perfect example.

We were excited to welcome Schier's interns to our office on Monday to share more about MEP consulting, and yesterday our interns had the opportunity to visit Schier for a behind-the-scenes look at product development and manufacturing.

Experiences like these help connect the classroom to the real world while giving future engineers a broader perspective on our industry.

Thank you to everyone at Schier who helped make these experiences possible, and happy National Intern Day to all of the interns investing in their future. We're excited to be a small part of your journey!

A huge thank you to the Building Operations team at Union Station Kansas City for welcoming our team and giving our interns and mentors a behind-the-scenes tour of the building's systems last week.

It's always a pleasure to visit one of our neighbors in the Crossroads and learn from the people who keep one of Kansas City's most iconic buildings operating every day. We especially appreciate the time they took to host us during such a busy season at Union Station.

There's no substitute for seeing MEP systems in the field. Opportunities like this give our interns valuable perspective and reinforce the connection between thoughtful design and building operations.

Thank you for your hospitality, generosity, and willingness to invest in the next generation of engineers. We truly appreciate the knowledge you shared with our team!

🌱 Eleven seasons later, and the garden continues to grow.

Our team is excited to see another season taking shape at the 18 Broadway Pantry Garden. Watching the beds fill in throughout the summer is a reminder that meaningful community partnerships are built over time - and we're grateful to be entering our 11th season alongside the University of Missouri Extension and the Master Gardeners of Greater Kansas City.

We can't wait to see what the rest of the growing season brings!

A big thank you to Striem for hosting their first Intern Day last week!

Our interns had the opportunity to tour Striem's manufacturing facility, learn more about their products, and see firsthand how engineering, manufacturing, and construction come together.

It was a great opportunity to gain exposure to one of the many manufacturers and industry partners we collaborate with throughout the design process while connecting classroom concepts to real-world applications.

A special thank you to Trent Sorensen for hosting such a great event and giving our interns an inside look at Striem's team, products, and manufacturing process. We appreciate the invitation and look forward to future opportunities to learn together!

Community matters to us at Dialectic Engineering.

Over the past few weeks, our team had the opportunity to participate in two local initiatives that reflect what it means to invest in the places we call home here in Kansas City.

We partnered with Giving the Basics to help support families by providing essential hygiene products to local schools and organizations, and we also spent time volunteering with Bridging The Gap's Heartland Tree Alliance and the Crossroads Community Association to plant trees here in the Crossroads of Kansas City! An initiative focused on creating a greener, healthier future for our city.

At Dialectic, we believe community involvement goes beyond the work we do every day. Whether we are designing spaces, building partnerships, or giving back alongside one another, we are proud to be part of a team that values connection, service, and lasting impact.

A big thank you to everyone who organized these events and to our team
members who showed up ready to make a difference.
