So, there’s a rumor that engineers sit in dark rooms all day, drink coffee by the gallon, and casually speak in math equations… we won’t deny the coffee part.

But in reality, we’re out transforming flyover towns into global landmarks, designing the roads you drive, strengthening the structures you rely on, and solving problems most people don’t even see. We turn vacant lots into possibilities. And it’s brainpower, grit, collaboration, and just enough caffeine to keep the ideas flowing. As the civil engineer of record, Taliaferro & Browne was proud to celebrate the groundbreaking of the Historic NE Lofts at the former Hardesty Federal Complex.

Our Project Manager Brenton Sells, P.E., LEED A.P., Project Engineer Blake Johnson, and Marketing Manager Ashli Harris joined partners in marking the start of a redevelopment that will bring new retail, restaurants, childcare, greenspace, and 389 housing units—80% affordable—to Kansas City’s Northeast.

Transforming this historic site into a vibrant, community-focused development is exactly how we help our clients build a sustainable future. We’re honored to support a project that uplifts neighborhoods and carries our city’s story forward.
