Kalaeloa Partners

Kalaeloa Partners is a model for how a reliable, efficient electric power plant should be run.

Construction on the plant began in 1989 when it was known as the Kalaeloa Co-generation Plant with a top power output of 180 megawatts. In 1991, it began commercial operation as a combined-cycle co-generation plant combusting low sulfur fuel oil (LSFO) to produce electricity and process steam.

Kalaeloa acquired the plant from ABB Energy Ventures in 1997. The plant is located in Kapolei on the Island of Oahu, 25 miles west of downtown Honolulu. Kalaeloa Partners now delivers up to 208 MW of power each day to Oahu’s electrical grid.

Public Service Enterprise Group (PSEG) is the Kalaeloa Partners managing partner. PSEG is one of the country’s largest publicly traded diversified energy companies. Harbert Power Corporation is Kalaeloa’s limited partner. Harbert is engaged in the development, construction, ownership and operation of independent power generating facilities and power related assets.
