Some of our team spent Saturday stepping off the roof of a 40-story hotel. On purpose.

We joined Special Olympics Hawai’i for Over the Edge, rappelling 400 feet down the side of the Hyatt Regency Waikiki to raise funds for local athletes.

Equal parts terrifying and unforgettable, and worth every second of it.

This week is Fire Prevention Week, and this year it's about charging.

Worth a look at where that's happening in your buildings. Tenant bike rooms, maintenance shops, device carts, back of house. Most of it accumulated without ever being designed for.

Fire alarm projects on military and public works sites rarely follow a commercial timeline.

The systems are familiar. The environment around them is not. Technicians need clearance and escorts before work begins; submittals pass through several reviewers, one after another, rather than all at once; and equipment moves through government contracting channels.

These factors tend to surface together. Once you recognize the pattern, it's far easier to build a schedule that holds.

Fire protection is one of the trades where a technician's competence is formally tested and independently verified.

That's NICET. It isn't a single credential, though. There are five certifications, each covering a different discipline, so a technician qualified on fire alarm systems has not necessarily been tested on water-based systems or special hazards.

It matters because certified technicians are trained to navigate the standards your building is actually held to. Every technician on our team is NICET-certified.
