💧 Watering Recommendations 💧

This year’s weather has been a bit of a roller coaster, and temperatures still haven’t settled into a consistent pattern. To help keep your lawn healthy without overwatering, here are our current irrigation recommendations:

• Pop-Up Spray Zones: 12–15 minutes
• Rotor Zones: 20–25 minutes
• Drip Zones: 25–35 minutes
• MP Rotator Zones: 25–30 minutes

Recommended frequency: 2 days per week

For St. Augustine and Zoysia lawns, avoid watering late at night or through the early morning hours. We recommend setting your irrigation cycles to finish by approximately 9:00 AM. This helps reduce prolonged moisture on the turf and can greatly decrease the risk of fungus issues.

If you have questions about your irrigation schedule or lawn health, feel free to reach out to us anytime!

It’s DRY… really dry.

We’re seeing a lot of lawns struggling right now—many are stuck in transition and showing signs of stress from the lack of moisture.

If you haven’t turned your irrigation system on yet this season, now is the time.

We recommend running your sprinklers daily for the next 2–3 days to give your lawn a deep, thorough soak and help it catch up. After that, stay consistent with your watering schedule to maintain healthy growth.

A good, heavy watering now can make all the difference in how your lawn performs heading into the season.

If you’re unsure about your system or need help getting things dialed in, we’re here to help.

Weather Update & Important Reminders

Mother Nature is definitely testing us right now. With extended freezing temperatures and another arctic front expected this weekend, frozen pipes are likely to remain frozen for several more days—possibly a week or longer. Pipes typically won’t begin to safely thaw until we see at least two consecutive days of sustained warm temperatures, so please stay vigilant when things finally start to warm up.

As temperatures rise, keep a close eye on your home and plumbing for leaks or breaks.

Lawn Care Tips During This Freeze:
• Do not walk on your lawn. Ice creates an “igloo effect” that helps insulate the root system. Walking on frozen turf breaks that protective layer and can cause significant turf damage.
• Avoid watering. Watering during these conditions can do more harm than good.

Plant Care:
• Do not touch or disturb plants. Walking through flower beds, brushing against frozen plants, or trying to adjust coverings can increase damage.
• Unfortunately, the insulating “igloo effect” from covering plants only works at higher temperatures. With extreme cold like this, some plant loss is expected—but minimizing disturbance gives plants their best chance of survival.

We know this weather is frustrating, but patience right now will help reduce long-term damage. We’ll continue to monitor conditions closely and provide updates as things change.

Stay warm and stay safe.

🚨 Urgent Weather Update – Please Read 🚨

This upcoming weather event is very different from 2021. Forecasts are calling for 25–35 mph wind gusts, single-digit temperatures, and wind chills between -15° and -20°.

We’ve received over many calls in the last 24 hours regarding plant protection. At this point, covering plants may actually cause more harm than good.

Here’s why:
• Tarps and covers combined with 1–3 inches of ice and 5–8 inches of snow can collapse plants under the weight, often killing them.
• Tarps secured with bricks or other weights in 35 mph winds can become airborne, creating a serious safety risk to windows, vehicles, and neighboring homes.
• Snow is a natural insulator and often provides better protection for root systems than tarps.
• Even plants inside commercial greenhouses failed during the 2021 freeze—there are limits to what protection can do.

Our professional recommendation:
Save your time and money. Spending hundreds or thousands of dollars attempting to prevent damage—especially when those efforts may actually cause damage—is not the best use of resources.

Instead, we encourage you to:
• Focus on protecting your home and family
• Cover exterior faucets
• Prepare essentials
• Ensure pool equipment is properly drained and freeze protection is working

Unfortunately, plant loss will not be fully known until late spring or even mid-summer. We’ve seen many cases where landscapes appeared dead, were removed too early, and later neighboring properties fully recovered with patience and time.

This is Mother Nature—sometimes damage is unavoidable. We’ll be here in the spring to help assess, recover, and re-establish landscapes where needed.

Stay safe and warm.

❄️ Arctic Cold Weekend Coming — Prepare Your Home & Landscape Now ❄️

A strong arctic cold front is expected this weekend. Taking a few simple steps before Friday can help prevent costly damage to your home, plumbing, and landscape.

What to do now:

• 💧 Water your lawn and landscape deeply this week
Dry plants are far more likely to suffer freeze damage. We haven’t had much rain lately, so moisture matters.

• 🚿 Shut off your sprinkler system by Friday afternoon
Irrigation lines can freeze and crack quickly in extreme cold.

• 🚰 Cover all exterior faucets and backflow devices
Insulated covers are inexpensive and can prevent broken pipes.

• 🌿 Protect sensitive plants
Have frost cloths, blankets, or tarps ready and cover plants before temperatures drop Friday evening.

• 🏊 Pool owners:
Confirm freeze protection is working properly and have the correct tools ready in case of a power outage.

• 💦 Drip indoor faucets Friday night through Monday
A slow drip can help prevent frozen pipes. Keep an eye on the forecast.

A little preparation now can save thousands later. If you need help protecting plants or shutting systems down, feel free to reach out.

Stay warm and stay safe this weekend!
