Our Story....

Concrete by the yard™ is formally known as CHI, Inc., formed in 1996. We started as a flat work concrete contractor, installing and replacing driveways and sidewalks. As time went on, the company started taking on larger jobs and commercial projects along with house slabs and large parking lots. After Hurricane Katrina in 2005, business started kicking off to larger amounts of work. The company started to participate in a program to raise houses in the New Orleans area. We had problems ordering concrete on a timely manner to keep up with the busy complicated schedules. We realized then the need for a new service; to supply concrete for a very flexible and complicated schedule. CHI, Inc/Concrete by the Yard™ formed a new division when the company purchased its first volumetric concrete truck. Since then, the company grew to be one of the largest volumetric concrete companies in the New Orleans area, operating twelve trucks and providing line pump service at the present time. Our goal is to provide small contractors, home owners, and business owners with the quality service that we once looked for. We at Concrete by the Yard™ know the complications involved in every day work for concrete contractors and will work hard to make supplying concrete one step easier.
