QuickBooks Desktop or QuickBooks Online?
Should I departmentalize?
When selecting an HVAC Operating Software, make sure their QB's integration is not going to cause you years of pain and agony! (This is one of the contractors most common complaints)
Two commonly overlooked features, that result in frustration.
1. Will it integrate with QB's Online as well as Desktop. May you switch over at some point? This is something to think about.
2. Will it seamlessly map revenue to current and future income accounts?
Income accounts
Income tends to be the category that business owners underutilize the most. Most new owners start with one or two broad categories, like “sales” and “services.” While some types of income are easy and cheap to generate, others require considerable effort, time, and expense. It makes sense to create separate line items in your chart of accounts for different types of income, rather than lumping all your income into one account. When you can see which departments bring in the most cash flow, you can manage your business more wisely.
