It was a pleasure teaming up with Blue Planet Alliance and Brooklyn Story Lab for to drive forward our mission of accelerating the energy transition in the Pacific.
Our Policy and Project Developer, Sierra Jackovics, represented our team at various events. Highlights from the week include:
🔵 The Summit of the Future, co-hosted by Peace Boat US, Blue Planet Alliance, the Indian Ocean Commission, and the UN Permanent Missions of Saint Lucia, Antigua and Barbuda, and Kiribati, focused on capacity building in Pacific, Caribbean, and Indian Ocean islands
🟢 The UNGA 79 Science Summit, "Islands of the Future" hosted by Kinetik Ventures highlighted climate innovations in islands
🔵 Foreign Policy’s Energy Forum covered global investments in renewable energy infrastructure and the need to expedite climate finance to projects in developing countries, including in the Asia-Pacific region
🟢 Australian First Nations + Pacific Island Leaders = Climate Success, co-hosted by Groundswell Giving, The Graeme Wood Foundation, and The Myer Foundation, had island leaders share their visions of what needs to happen between now and COP31 in 2026, which may be co-hosted by Australia and the Pacific, to keep the world on track with their climate goals
🔵 Blue Planet Alliance’s annual Island Partnership Dinner brought together the organization's partners from the Pacific and Caribbean to share their work to expedite the successful transition to 100% by 2045
It was fantastic to collaborate with and welcome leaders throughout the week, including the new Permanent Representative of Tonga to the United Nations, Hon Ambassador Tone, as well as Tonga’s Speaker of Parliament and one of our development partners, His Lordship Fakafānua.
Our team at Mana Pacific is looking forward to continuing to execute our solar and battery storage projects in the Pacific region - for it is generating affordable, clean energy that will help break our world’s reliance on fossil fuels and make a considerable difference in turning back the clock on climate change.
