SCAM WARNING – PLEASE READ 🚨This is happening in Groups everywhere so be careful!
We’ve seen a rise in scams targeting bidders in this group and others. Here’s how it works:
✅ A scammer watches the auctions here.
✅ After the auction ends, they create a fake profile that looks like the seller.
✅ They message other bidders privately, claiming the original winner backed out and you’re next in line to buy.
✅ They pressure you to pay quickly, usually via Friends & Family with no buyer protection.
👉 IMPORTANT: Never send money to someone who messages you out of the blue saying you’re the backup bidder.
If you ever get a message like this:
1️⃣ Go back to the original post.
2️⃣ Click on the seller’s name and message them directly from their profile.
3️⃣ If the conversation thread isn’t the same, it’s NOT the same person.
4️⃣ You can also comment publicly on the post to confirm before you pay.
These scams have been reported in this group before, and in nearly every auction group on Facebook. They are very convincing.
Admins will NEVER be able to control who messages you privately.
You are responsible for verifying the identity of anyone asking you for money.
Please share this with anyone new to the group so we can all help keep each other safe.
Stay vigilant, ask questions, and don’t rush payments. If it feels off, it probably is.
