Join us this Saturday for Senior Appreciation Day at the Kings Mountain Farmers' Market from 8AM to 12PM!​

Seniors can enjoy refreshments, goodie bags and will receive a $5 Farmers Market Senior Voucher courtesy of Albemarle (while supplies last). This month's event will also feature a free Shred Truck for secure document disposal, organized by the Patrick Senior Center.

We can't wait for our Senior Appreciation Day & Shred Truck Event this Saturday! 🙌

✅Seniors can expect free goodie bags and refreshments provided by the Patrick Senior Center, as well as information about this year's Senior Farmers' Market Nutrition vouchers (eligibility guidelines apply). Albemarle Kings Mountain will also be with us offering $5 coupons for seniors to shop the market on Saturday.

📄The Shred Truck, sponsored by the North Carolina Senior Medicare Patrol, will also be onsite! The community is invited to bring personal documents for secure shredding. Staples are okay, but please remove paper clips. We are thankful to the Patrick Senior Center for organizing this Shred Truck event.

Can you spot the spodumene?​

This pegmatite sample contains spodumene, a key lithium-bearing mineral. Look for elongated, blade-like crystals, often appearing in shades of white, gray or pale green within the rock.​

As an important source of lithium, spodumene plays a critical role in powering technologies such as electric vehicles, energy storage systems and everyday electronics.

Albemarle continues to develop workforce training programs with Cleveland Community College to support the proposed redevelopment of the Kings Mountain Mine. Programs under development include concentrator operator training, short-term certifications, classroom instruction and apprenticeship models designed to prepare workers for operational, technical and skilled trades positions.​

We’re proud to work with Martin Marietta Materials as two North Carolina-based companies on an exciting project that benefits local communities and advances a more sustainable future.​

As part of the Kings Mountain Mine project plan, non-lithium bearing material would be processed by Martin Marietta Materials into construction aggregate for local building projects, while royalty fees paid to Albemarle would help support Kings Mountain and surrounding communities through local funding initiatives.​

This innovative agreement is one example of how the Kings Mountain Mine is being designed to optimize the management of natural resources and its operational footprint.

We were proud to support the Boys & Girls Clubs of Cleveland County this week at their 30th Annual Golf Tournament, held at the Cleveland County Country Club.

The event raised over $50,000 for summer programming at all Cleveland County locations!

Our community education specialist, Margot Plonk, has been participating in Leadership Cleveland County over the past 10 months. This development program trains leaders in our community with a curriculum that highlights networking, personal development, community engagement, and an in-depth understanding of county dynamics.

We were pleased to host the class this month at the Kings Mountain Mine site for a tour and discussion of our operation! Class member Elizabeth Champion shared that the tour allowed community leaders to better understand the industry by seeing the work up close and hearing directly from the people behind it.

The class also supported Washington Outreach Ministry, packaging up food for 250 local families as well as building a Little Free Library to help expand access to books and literacy resources within the community.

Congratulations to Sarah Bouchard, recipient of the 2026 Albemarle Community Scholarship! Sarah was awarded $5,000 as a graduating senior pursuing a STEM degree and plans to study chemistry at a four-year university. The scholarship has the opportunity for renewal for up to three years.

We were also proud to celebrate the Kings Mountain High School senior class, which was collectively awarded more than $2.1 million in scholarships at last night’s ceremony. Congratulations to Sarah and all of this year’s graduates as they begin their next chapter.
