As many of you know, the start of applications for the 2025-2026 Regular HEAP benefit has been delayed until further notice. There are additional resources that may help to meet your emergency heating needs. Please note, I do not know details or have any additional information beyond what is listed below. I'm simply sharing resources:
Family of Woodstock, a United Way agency, is donating minimum deliveries of fuel or kerosene based on income and need. Their Kingston office is located at 31 Albany Avenue. Office phone # is (845) 679-2485.
Emergency Assistance, a category of NYS Temporary Assistance can help if you have no fuel for heating in the cold weather period. If you have emergency needs, contact UC DSS ASAP, so you can be interviewed and informed in writing about the decision on your emergency the same day you apply. Emergencies are handled on a daily basis. You DO NOT have to be eligible for ongoing Temporary Assistance to receive Emergency Assistance.
