Safety Professional Position:
Preston Contractors, Inc., an established growing company in the Mid-Atlantic, is seeking a Safety Professional to join our team. This is an experienced level position, which performs EHS support of projects which are predominantly in the heavy highway construction, earth moving, and natural resources support industries. This position aids in ensuring compliance with applicable project plans, specifications, and regulations. You must be comfortable with navigating and understanding project specifications and blueprints/drawings.
The Safety Professional is responsible for day-to-day oversight of jobsite safety implementation including, but not limited to:
• Safety education/training,
• Ex*****on and auditing of safe work procedures,
• Coordination of incident investigations,
• Ex*****on of injury prevention plans,
• Site-specific safety goals and objectives,
• Pre-project planning of health and safety plans (HASPs),
• EHS audits/inspections,
• Contractor safety,
• Communications and reporting as required to management, clients and agencies as needed.
• Working with the Corporate Safety Director to implement programs/processes that will help reduce incidents and ever improve the safety culture.
• Additional general responsibilities include ensuring compliance with local, state, federal and corporate regulations, and policies. This position reports directly to the Corporate Safety Director and must work collaboratively with site leadership, employees, and outside EHS professionals to effectively identify and deliver innovative EHS solutions aligned with the needs of the business.
Responsibilities
• Aid in conducting weekly inspections on various jobsites to document audits regarding housekeeping, equipment and machinery condition, environmental concerns and all other safety related issues at locations, to ensure compliance with all applicable Federal, State, and company regulations.
• Conduct safety and compliance training as needed, to educate employees pertaining to jobsite safety, health hazards, and methods of reducing and/or eliminating workplace hazards.
• Coordinate new employee orientation and cover existing employees’ on- going Safety training needs.
• Oversee function specific training needed for various tasks.
• Develop and track corrective actions for audit findings.
• Communicate with management, safety staff and employees to keep each jobsite up to date and current regarding changes in safety regulations and programs.
• Participate in monthly safety committee meetings.
• Facilitate relationships with local regulatory personnel and agencies, provide compliance information, and respond to any concerns they may have.
• Lead efforts to correct any environment, safety and health problems identified by auditors, insurance representation or internal reviews.

• Work with HR to manage workers’ compensation claims and return to work programs.
• Participate in all incident investigations.
REQUIREMENTS
• 5 years’ proven experience as a Safety Professional

License/Certification
One or more of the following is beneficial, but not required:
• CSP (Certified Safety Professional)

• SMS (Safety Management Specialist)
• CHST (Construction Health and Safety Technician)

Work Location
Project sites for this role will vary and will require travel throughout North Carolina, some of Virginia and southern West Virginia. Most travel will be daily with some overnight travel required.
Salary
Based on experience and certifications – Range $90,000 to $100,000
