Installation of a germicidal UV light inside the air handler inhibits the growth of mold there which saves energy by allowing the system to operate more efficiently. A cleaner system also requires less maintenance.

Germs in the Air You Breathe

Like it or not the indoor air you breathe has a lot of stuff in it that you don’t want. Like viruses, bacteria, mold, mildew, and allergens. Some are only annoying, others can make you sick. Because air passes repeatedly through your HVAC system (in fact many microbes like the cool dark damp interior of the system) this is the ideal place for germs to multiply and spread throughout the house.

I can attest to the use of the UV light. We had turned it off and forgot about it an we all became congested with sinus/allergy issues. We have been a lot healthier and Allie's asthma has been better controlled. Even if this is not something you are interested in, it is recommended that filters are changed monthly and the coil inside be cleaned yearly. I never thought it was necessary until Jacob showed me some coils. Coils filter every ounce of air that flows through your house and if not cleaned are DISGUSTING! Friends this is just an FYI update. After talking to Jake about the devastating fire in Spurger he said that it's important to be careful, especially those living in older trailers, because the wiring is not always great. Plugging in a space heater that draws a lot of electricity can overload the circuit and cause an electrical fire. Be very careful with these. He has seen many outlets that burned with fire up the wall. Keep your loved ones safe!
