George Fikes LLC is seeking a Fleet Manager for its Knoxville TN location. This position will report to the Director of Operations and will be responsible for managing and dispatching a fleet of trucks for the company’s logistics division.
George Fikes LLC’s logistics division includes the management and dispatching of a small fleet of tractor trailers and drivers for OTR (over the road) freight transport. Under the direction of the Director of Operations, the Fleet Manager will perform the following tasks and duties:
• Coordinate with brokers to identify and book loads for OTR freight – which includes:
o utilizing online load boards and developing broker relationships to identify loads
o negotiating rates for loads
o completing and submitting new carrier onboarding package
o executing rate confirmations to book loads
o submit load assignments to drivers via email
o planning routes and coordinating overall dispatching of drivers and trucks
o coordinate driver schedules to align with load assignments
• following up with drivers, brokers, and shipper/receivers as necessary to ensure smooth transport of the load (both verbally and via email),
• provide updates to brokers/customers in a timely manner and work proactively to keep them informed of load status,
• communicate effectively and regularly with drivers to maintain schedule, location, and load status updates,
• utilize company tracking software to provide updates and reports on driver and load status,
• receive and upload BOL, rate confirmation and load paperwork
• regularly update load booking spreadsheet
• provide daily summary reports
• be available for after-hours and weekends as necessary for on-call emergencies

• proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel & Outlook)
• able to follow directions
• prompt in meeting deadlines
• able to work in a fast-paced environment
