We received some great news this week that we wanted to share with our community.

Floor Shield of Knoxville was recognized as Dealer of the Year for 2025 and also finished #1 in total sales volume across the Floor Shield network. That makes two years in a row at the top.

Awards like this do not happen without a lot of people behind the scenes.

First, thank you to our customers here in Knoxville and throughout East Tennessee. Every garage, patio, and workspace you trusted us with helped make this possible.

Second, a big thank you to our crews. The grinding, the prep work, the long days, and the attention to detail are what make these floors perform the way they should.

Something I’ve learned after working on hundreds of garages here in Knoxville…

Most people don’t call us because they want something flashy. They call because they’re tired of looking at worn out concrete every time they walk into their home.

The garage really is the everyday entrance. It’s where kids come in with backpacks. Where groceries get unloaded. Where projects start and sometimes never quite get finished.

Take a look at this garage. The jalopy epoxy circa 1980’s. Can I have my grandpas garage, please.

Peeling coating. Hot tire wear. Oil stains that have been there long enough a rug had to be laid down just to cover the leaks.

We see this a lot. Older epoxy systems that were rolled on without proper prep eventually give up. Moisture gets underneath. Tires pull at it. Oil finds its way in.

Repairing cracks is not just about filling them and moving on. The concrete has to be properly evaluated, opened, cleaned, and repaired with the right materials so the repair can move with the slab, not fight against it.

Cracks and settling are some of the most common things we see when evaluating concrete floors.

Some cracks are cosmetic or related to normal concrete movement. Those can often be properly repaired and coated with great long term results. Control joints and minor settlement cracks usually fall into this category.

Other cracks tell a different story. Large displacement, active movement, or uneven settling can point to a structural issue. Those need to be assessed before any coating work is done. Covering them without addressing the cause only hides the problem.
