This week, we got our slab finished and walls framed on this addition. The team did a great job framing it fast, and we even got to teach a few guys the basics on their first framing project.

Documentation of the stuff we build is just as important as the stuff itself.

Typical Friday afternoon...a new sub requested (and rightly) deserves money for the work to date.

We require our subs to be fully licensed and insured.

We require our subs to sign our contracts digitally.

We require invoices submitted to our account

We require our subs to jump through a few hoops for sure...but it's the only way to create an "auditable" process for our clients and our business and the law.

And when our subs help us get ahead of schedule, we're happy to cash a check and meet them at the bank (because 1st time vendors take 4 days to process)

But we still document everything.

It's not that hard, it just requires a willingness to put the systems in place.

Before you decide to hire a builder for your next project, ask to see the operating systems they use.

If they can't show you how every penny is accounted for, find another builder.

Just ask anyone who's suffered from dealing with a great builder but a horrible business person...

Day 1 on this shop addition project...

And now I want some equipment for Christmas.

The crew at Hillside Excavation made it look easy.

Footing dug. Next up...rebar and inspection.

After waiting 4 months for an updated survey, the owner was happy to see a lot of progress on Day 1.

Airport sketches ✈️...not sexy

Our designer is just starting to lay out our concept plans for this simple shop addition

And we're working through a couple of options

Nothing sexy to see here, but the cool thing is our designer is litterslly on the other side of the planet

We've found great success by employing designers, admin assistants, marketing pros and even our bookkeeping team in other hemispheres

We may be small, but we are mighty.

This is going to be a fun project for some fun clients...I mean...clients who want a 1,000 SF shop addition for their bee hives...
