For Fathers Day Ashley is encouraging me to revisit this old manuscript called "Mustache Dad" that I wrote in 2012 when our oldest was born. It's a memoir about the pregnancy for me which was a period of time that a songwriting career was not panning out, and although evident in the songs, the hope of fatherhood made me serious about housepainting. It would be accurate to call me a hipster in those days. We didn't own a car and I bicycled to my nearby paint job at a historic house with a backpack of brushes. The homeowner borrowed ladders and bought the paint and it took me just under 6 months! I watched all the videos way into the night (all after the book) and by the end of the writing in 2012 I was certain that painting might work. By 2015 we were expecting a 3rd son, had 25 painters, a home remodel, and I got away from writing as well. I'm still trying to balance some kind of artistic outlet and never thought I would live and breath painting 120% like I do now. But the intentions are still down there somewhere, always present in the way I approach the work. Anyways, wanted to share. Need encouragement. Here goes.
