of the Month: Fall Driving

Changing seasons can bring new driving challenges. GEM would like to highlight the importance of safe driving during the fall season by sharing helpful safe driving tips:

🍂 Wet leaves can be as slippery as ice. If you lose traction, lay off the gas, resist the urge to brake, and point the wheels in the direction of the skid.
🍂 Ensure that you are ready for driving at dawn and dusk by periodically checking your headlights and taillights.
🍂 If conditions are foggy, drive with your low beams or fog lights and increase the distance between you and other cars.
🍂 Check the condition of your tires to ensure there is sufficient tread depth to handle the increased possibility of slick wet conditions associated with colder months.

About Us

In September 1994, Michael Evans founded GEM Technologies, Inc. (GEM) to expand on the services he provided to the Department of Energy in Oak Ridge as a nuclear engineer. He provided supervision and overall management of the company’s daily operations, establishing company objectives, interfacing with clients, and providing management and oversight of projects. Under his leadership, GEM’s capabilities and experience have grown from providing technical and engineering services to construction, demolition, environmental services and facility operations and maintenance.

25 years later, GEM continues to provide technical and field services across the DOE Complex including the Y-12 National Security Complex, the Oak Ridge National Laboratory, the Pantex Plant, the Transuranic Waste Processing Facility, the Portsmouth Gaseous Diffusion Plant, Argonne National Laboratory, and the Los Alamos National Laboratory. Additionally, GEM has current contracts with the State of Tennessee, the University of Tennessee, Naval Facilities Engineering Command (NAVFAC), the General Services Administration (GSA), and commercial firms such as Arconic and DOW Chemical.
