Another beautiful subaqueous directional boring project built with American Boring & Trenching, inc. for the local power company. This crossing has not been completed by ANY other utility due to the dense compacted clay soils beneath Stevenson Creek (N-values at 58/0.3!).
This project was first surveyed and permitting documents were submitted 3 years ago. The effort underwent extensive coordination with state and federal environmental agencies, the City of Clearwater, and FDOT to minimize impacts on the public. The goal was to get the waterfront open for America’s 250th birthday and Clearwater’s fireworks viewing! This goal will be met this week.
This project installed two 8” HDPE over 720LF and used wireline steering & tracking and was installed over 30 feet deep. The conduits will be used for 2 feeders of 3-phase power.
