Last week was the teaser. This is the reveal.

Here’s the full fly through of our Haverford Heritage House project — a 1930s Colonial Revival on the Main Line, expanded by 1,700 square feet and built to feel like it was always this way.

Here’s a breakdown of what’s inside:

▫️A mudroom built for real family life, with custom cubbies and open storage that’s easy to use.
▫️The original kitchen was reimagined as a butler’s pantry.
▫️The breakfast room was given a slightly vaulted ceiling that adds just enough architectural interest.
▫️A family room is anchored by a cozy fireplace, open to the brand new kitchen.
▫️ A powder room refresh that stops everyone in their tracks — and yes, that tile was existing. Major credit goes to for choosing the wallpaper that made it sing.
▫️ And upstairs, a full primary suite with laundry, bath, closets, and a bedroom designed to feel like a retreat.

The new addition made this home so much more functional for our clients, and we are so honored they entrusted us to create the backdrop that will witness so many of their family’s important moments and key milestones in the years to come.

Some homes carry more than square footage. They carry memories, continuity, and a sense of who came before.

The Haverford Heritage House is a 1930s Colonial Revival on the Main Line — thoughtfully expanded by 1,700 square feet and reimagined for the way a family lives today, while honoring everything that made it worth preserving in the first place.

Our clients are the second generation to make this house a home, and now it’s ready for their family’s next chapter. This is Part 1 of 3. The full reveal unfolds over the next two weeks.

👉 Follow — there’s more to show you and Parts 2 and 3 are worth the wait.

On May 12, we hosted something a little different.

We invited architects, interior designers, and trusted design partners to sit down with our estimating team for a transparent conversation about construction pricing. How estimates are built. Why bids can look so different from builder to builder. What’s driving costs in today’s market and why those pressures aren’t going away anytime soon.

Sound familiar? These are the same questions design partners hear from their clients every day. And they deserve better tools to answer them.

We’re turning that conversation into something ongoing. Say hello to The Cost of Building, a newsletter covering construction pricing, estimation, case studies, and the decisions that actually shape a project budget.

We’re honored to be named a 2026 Best Place to Work. 🏆

What makes this recognition special: it’s based entirely on employee feedback. No panel of judges. No application checklist. Just the honest voices of the people who show up here every day.

Culture isn’t something leadership creates alone. It’s built collectively, through the way people support one another, care for clients, and contribute to something bigger than any single project. This award belongs to every person on the team.

Ernst’s Managing Partner Jake Taylor put into words how much this recognition means to him. Read his blog post at the link in our bio.

POV: the exterior glow-up begins 👀

After months of transformation inside, the exterior at our Chestnut Hill Classic project is having its moment.

After the weather broke this spring, the exterior renovation began with the landscape being completely reimagined to match the home. New hardscaping, a refreshed pool area, and a new back deck are all taking shape as we head into the final stretch.

This is the part of the process where it all starts to feel real. Summer dinners, pool days, and the kind of everyday moments thoughtful renovation makes possible.

Final completion is just around the corner, just in time for summer fun. ☀️😎

A steel beam is often the key that unlocks an open concept space.

Our Principal Project Manager explains how we lifted this massive steel beam in place to support a heavy load and open up a new kitchen and dining space for a young family.

We were honored to support the through this year’s tour. Our wonderful clients graciously opened their home, and more than 300 attendees got a first-hand look at this incredible renovation project.

This iconic Main Line stone home was originally built in 1926, but when our clients took over the property in 2019 they wanted to make it their own. Installing a 27-foot beam to remove an obtrusive column in the kitchen was a highlight, allowing for an open concept that’s perfect for large family gatherings.

Get all the details of this renovation in our Plumb Line magazine at ernstbrothers.com/plumb-line-magazine (linked in bio).

Before → almost after.

This was the final week before move-in at our Chestnut Hill Classic project, and the transformation is fully taking shape.

Swipe-style transitions like this show the big moments, but what you’re really seeing is months of planning, coordination, and steady progress coming together. New layouts. Refined details. Spaces that finally function the way they were meant to.

We’re still in it here. Punch list items being wrapped up, final touches going in, the last details getting the attention they deserve.

Not quite the final reveal… but close enough to feel it.

After months of progress, our Chestnut Hill Classic project is nearing the finish line.

Outside, our work continues as he backyard is being reshaped with new hardscaping, a reimagined pool area, and an outdoor kitchen that will make this home the place to be this summer.
