The soil testing preformed in the lab will show its composition to highlight nutrient deficiencies, organic matter content, pH level, salinity, heavy melt presence, and grain size. In addition to soil testing, we help educate students in our community about the importance of how plants and soils interact with one another.

Don't forget about the webinar today from 1-2 PM!

Hear about the findings from our extensive survey on heavy metal contamination in Lafayette's soils, led by the brilliant graduate student Holly Heafner from UL Lafayette School of Geosciences and funded by the Louisiana Board of Regents. We analyzed 1,292 topsoil samples using a pXRF elemental analyzer, covering areas from public parks and private residences to University of Louisiana at Lafayette campus. This session is essential for local residents, gardeners and anyone interested in soil health. THANK YOU to everyone that contributed soil samples for our city-wide heavy metals soil survey!

The project will include 1,293 samples!
